The calendar is the first thing a campaign has to respect, since festival tourism drives much of Downtown Mount Dora. Our research found a Christmas lights season from late November into January, Renninger's Antique Extravaganza in January, February and November, the Arts Festival in late January or early February, the Scottish Highland Festival in February, a Sailboat Regatta and Blueberry Festival in April, a bicycle festival in early October, a Craft Fair in October and a Plant and Garden Festival in November. A festival listing puts the October fair at about 200,000 visitors. Those visitors search by event name and date, so ads can be written to match, and scheduled to stop when the gates close.
Residents behave differently. The share of people 65 or older is 33.2%, against 20% in the typical Florida city, the median age is 48.6 and 18.5% of workers work from home, against 11.8% typical. That is a daytime audience: people who are home on weekdays and search at ten in the morning. Another 20.2% of workers have a long commute, against 16.3%, a figure that shifted when the Wekiva Parkway and the widened SR 46 changed the drive toward Orange and Seminole counties. A resident campaign should favor weekday daytime hours, with evening bids for the commuters.
Access changes the copy. Festival weekends bring heavy traffic and raise lodging rates, and heavy rain in October 2025 washed out Donnelly Street, one of the main routes toward downtown, with a short detour in place. A business near Downtown Mount Dora can state its parking, entrance and hours in the ad text itself, which helps the visitor who is circling the block. Festival tourism anchors the visitor economy. The city's calendar includes the Arts Festival, Renninger's Antique Extravaganza three times a year, a Scottish Highland Festival, a Craft Fair in October and a Plant and Garden Festival in November. Downtown is lined with antique and boutique retail, antique shows bring hundreds of dealers, and shop owners say festivals help keep them going in slow periods. The Lakeside Inn, a National Register hotel, is among the historic lodging, and many accommodations charge higher rates on festival weekends. These advertisers sell dates, so their campaigns should be scheduled by event.
Residents work across several fields.
